CORONATION Street's Daniel Brocklebank has revealed a heart-breaking personal connection to Paul's MND storyline.

Viewers of the long-running ITV soap have watched Paul Foreman slowly deteriorate with the awful disease.

Despite keeping his diagnosis secret from his friends and family, Paul finally came clean to his devastated partner Billy.

And now the vicar, who is played by Daniel Brocklebank, has shared his own personal connection to the storyline.

Speaking exclusively to The Sun at the NTAs, the 43-year-old said: "It’s a tough storyline to be doing.

"My grandfather died of Motor Neuron Disease and I have been an ambassador for the MND Association for the last 23 years.

"The subject is very close to my heart, I’m hoping that we are doing it justice and bringing a lot of awareness to such a cruel disease."

Paul, who is portrayed by Peter Ash, will eventually die in scenes set to be heart-breaking.

Soap star Daniel said: "I’m going to miss him [Peter] massively, I adore him.

"It’s so strange with these shows when you spend years working with people and suddenly you’re not working with them and maybe you will again.

"Billy and Paul’s characters have got back together, broken up and then gotten back together again.

"I’m going to miss him terribly."

Viewers were recently left in tears after Paul learned how long he has left to live.

Coronation Street airs on ITV1 and ITVX.
