Coronation Street fans baffled as fan favourite quits the cobbles in seriously low-key exit | The Sun

CORONATION Street fans were left gobsmacked as a fan favourite character appeared to make a rather low-key exit for a new life away from the cobbles.

Ryan Connor, played by Ryan Prescott, waved goodbye to Weatherfield after an emotional few months.

ITV viewers watched on as he made his way to the airport to join girlfriend Crystal, played by Erin Austen, in moving to Glasgow.

He had managed to bag himself a permanent DJ gig in the Scottish city and with her personal life on the up he decided it was time to flee.

His affair with Daisy Midgeley had been exposed to the Street but with Crystal choosing to forget it, Ryan knew it was time to move on.

During Wednesday's episode, Ryan could be seen putting his belongings into the back of a taxi as his family and friends gathered to see him off.

Debbie, Carla and Peter all wished him well as he made his low-key departure.

He offered up a poignant last thought about his former flatmate Lauren, who Ryan knows has been struggling, as he said to Carla: "If you see Lauren around, tell her I said goodbye."

After insisting he had said every goodbye, he hopped into the cab and uttered: "This is it. I'll see you."

As the car rolled around the corner, Ryan saw his fling Daisy as they shared a stolen look.

However, the car went past without the pair ever saying a proper goodbye to each other.

Although fans appeared sad that Ryan has seemingly fled the Street for good, many were left shocked at how underwhelming his exit was.

Writing on X – formerly Twitter – one said: "This exit is so f***ing funny, like they did not care about Ryan at all."

Another added: "I really didn't think Ryan would go. I'll miss him."

Before a third penned: "So, in Ryan and Crystal's last episode he only gets two scenes and she doesn't appear at all?!"
