  • Now ‘Lance’s’ iconic flat from the beloved programme has been put on market

The one-bed flat at the centre of the hit BBC series Detectorists is up for sale for £200,000 – driving super fans wild as they suggest clubbing together to buy the pokey apartment.

Advertised as ‘light and airy’ – the empty first-floor apartment appeared through all three of the cult series, which follows Andy, played by Pirates of the Caribbean star Mackenzie Crook, 52, and Lance, played by Harry Potter actor Toby Jones, 57.

Now empty – it is a stark contrast from Lance’s welcoming home.

Filmed in the Anglo-Saxon market town of Framlingham, Suffolk, the building is a frequent feature in the show – often seen with the curmudgeonly treasure-hunter’s yellow TR7 parked outside.

It comes just months after the brightly coloured sports car – owned in real life by Jones’ co-star Mackenzie Crook – was put up for sale for just £3,500.

Speaking on social media, one said: ‘There are 19,500 members in this group. That’s just £10 each!’

Replying to him, another joked: ‘Nice time share… One weekend each every 31 years.’

The sitcom ran for three seasons from 2014 to 2022, with both Toby Jones and Mackenzie Crook winning BAFTAs for their acting and writing respectively – alongside scooping a gong for Best Scripted Comedy in 2015.

It follows the lives of the metal-detecting pair as they try and uncover ancient history across the North Essex countryside.

Huntingfield Estates – who are selling the property – described the property as: ‘A lovely light and airy flat and was used for filming in the cult series The Detectorists.’

The estate agents continued: ‘Up the stairs you arrive at the Entrance Hall which is fully glazed to two sides with stunning views over the Church and Framlingham rooftops and makes a lovely Garden Room giving the feeling of indoor/outdoor space.

‘A glazed door leads into the spacious Sitting/Dining Room and is light and airy being dual aspect and a further door leads into a lobby which is perfect as either a study or breakfast area as it is open plan to the Kitchen.

‘The Kitchen is dual aspect and has a range of painted, white wall and base units, green laminate worktops, stainless steel sink and drainer with taps over and a sash window overlooking the Garden Room.

‘Off the lobby area is a Shower Room to the right which is of a generous nature and has a newly fitted shower cubicle, wash hand basin and wc and there is a large shelved cupboard.’

With one bathroom and a large shower room, the house also includes a verandah with views over the town’s rooftops

In April the iconic yellow TR7 driven by Toby Jones went up for sale for just £3,500.

The 1977 sports car was bought by Crook in case the show got a second series – because it was cheaper than having to hire one.

Him selling the car appeared to be confirmation that the series will not return.
