ITV I’m A Celebrity’s Tony Bellew claims he ‘knew’ winner 10 days ago

I’m A Celebrity has come to an end after three weeks of jungle action, with a new king of the jungle being crowned live on Sunday (10 December) night.

This year, it was former Made in Chelsea star Sam Thompson who took the crown, after winning the hearts of viewers and his fellow campmates alike.

Former professional boxer Tony Bellew finished in second place, and has formed a firm friendship with Sam along the way.

And during his exit chat with presenters Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, he claimed he has been certain Sam would win for quite some time.

He told Ant and Dec: "Right, I'm not going to lie, I predicted this 10 days ago. We climbed into coffins and I am not joking, I got snakes, Nick [Pickard] got snakes, Nella [Rose] got cockroaches.

"Guess who was up next? Sam. Guess what he got? Frogs. 10 days ago I predicted, the king is here, and I am bang on.

“This is your king of the jungle, no matter what anyone says, your king of the jungle is here and he got frogs."

Tony also revealed he has invited Sam over for Christmas dinner, and thinks his grown-up son will be quite the fan of the cheeky reality star.

He said: "My son is six foot four [inches] and he could take him but I know he'll be like, 'Dad, can we keep him?' and do you know what, I've never lied to him in my life and I'll tell him, 'Yes you can.'"

The new king of the jungle proceeded to ask if the offer was a serious one, with Tony promising: "Of course you can, mate.”

Sam reminded him: "This is on telly, you know?"

The new kind of the jungle told the Geordie duo that his time on the ITV show felt “like a dream I didn’t want to be woken up from.”

“It’s the most surreal thing I’ve ever done in my life,” he added.

After Ant and Dec announced Sam as the winner he said: "I'm really overwhelmed, I didn't even think I was going to be invited onto the show. I'm so grateful, thank you so much.

“I’ve dreamt of doing this show for years and years and you made this boy’s dream come true."

He was met by best friend and fellow TV star Pete Wicks, with the two very sweetly embracing as they faced the cameras.

Elsewhere, it was former UKIP leader Nigel Farage who came third, and labelled the experience “a big adventure” during his elimination chat.

“I haven’t done anything like this…. to be honest with you, I’ve loved it.”
