BBC Breakfast's Sally Nugent hit MP Robert Jenrick with an abundance of questions after it was revealed that Migrant hotels would be closing in the next few days.

As Mr Jenrick joined Ben Thompson and Sally on the sofa, he said the decision would be coming up and said it was "sensible". Sally then fired questions about cost in his direction and asked: "Does it currently cost more than a hotel?"

Mr Jenrick responded: "It is good value for money," prompting Sally to add: "But more than a hotel at the moment?" He said that eventually it will be better value for money when it's at full capacity.

Sally continued to grill him which prompted a hit back from the MP as he said: "I think what you're expecting us to do is put 500 people onto a boat on day one, which is not a sensible thing to do." The host immediately reminded him that it's "not day one".

It was claimed that they were mere days into the project, but he was soon "corrected" by the host. She added: "Just going to correct you for the moment, it was actually given the all-clear a month ago.

"So it's not only been operational for days, it's been available to you for the last month." After Sally hit back at the MP, viewers on X, formerly known on Twitter, rushed online to praise her.

One person wrote: "Blimey, Sally Nugent giving Jenrick a good grilling." They added: "He can't accept this obvious truth and starts sweating. Well done Sally."

Viewers also branded the interview a "car crash" as the MP appeared on screen. One user wrote: "And not content with his car crash statement in Parliament yesterday, Robert Jenrick has just had a car crash interview."

Another said: "Robert Jenrick with an absolute car crash of an interview this morning on BBC Breakfast." The interview comes as Sally and Ben kicked off the show together following Jon Kay's brief break.

Ben stepped in on Tuesday morning as Jon took some time away from the cameras. BBC Breakfast continues daily from 6am on BBC One.
