Two men have been jailed over the Reservoir Dogs-style execution of a DJ in a disused restaurant in London.

Mehmet Koray Alpergin was subjected to harrowing brutality after being snatched off the street by masked knifemen, along with his new girlfriend, Gozde Dalbudak. Battered and bruised, she was locked in a bathroom and forced to listen as he cried out in pain.

The pair were taken to Stadium Lounge, a kebab restaurant near the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, where Mr Alpergin, 43 was stripped naked and tortured.

Today (December 12) Tejean Kennedy, 33, and Ali Kavak, 26, were sentenced having previously been found guilty of the kidnap and false imprisonment of Mr Alpergin and his girlfriend, as well as his manslaughter.

Kennedy was sentenced to 18 years in prison. Kavak was sentenced to 13 years.

Samuel Owusu-Opoku, 35, was previously found guilty of two counts of kidnap. Steffan Gordon, 34, had admitted kidnap and was previously found guilty of two counts of false imprisonment. Owusu-Opoku was jailed for seven years in total. Gordon was jailed to eight years in total.

Kavak was also previously convicted of perverting the course of justice by helping to dispose of Mr Alpergin’s body and destroying two vehicles by fire. Owusu-Opoku admitted the charge.

Mr Alpergin, originally from northern Cyprus, suffered 94 wounds after being strangled with a ligature, scalded with boiling water, stabbed in the soles of his feet and beaten with a baseball bat, suffering 14 fractured ribs. Even his genitals showed signs of injury, the Mail reported.

He was a well-known figure in the British Turkish community. He owned Bizim FM, a Turkish language radio station in London and rubbed shoulders with rapper P Diddy and Salt Bae.

Investigators had previously concluded that the killing bore all the hallmarks of being linked to serious, organised crime – and was almost certainly drug-related.

"From the number and nature of the injuries that were sustained, the prosecution suggest that it is not hard to envisage a group of sadistic thugs taking it in turns to inflict injury," Prosecutor Crispin Aylett KC had told the Old Bailey.
