A British teenager who died in a fall yesterday at a Lanzarote hotel was on holiday with his parents, it emerged today.
Well-placed sources said his mum and dad went with him to hospital after he was rushed from the scene seriously hurt before succumbing to his injuries in hospital.
More details began to emerge today about the horror plunge as police confirmed it was being treated as a tragic accident.
The alarm was raised at the three-star Galeon Playa Apart-Hotel at 7.30am yesterday.
The British victim, an 18-year-old who Spanish authorities are not naming, died at Doctor Jose Molina Orosa Hospital in the island capital Arrecife around 11.30am the same day although news of his passing did not emerge until late last night.
A source close to the investigation said today: ‘This was an accident that wasn’t alcohol-related or linked to any improper behaviour on the part of the teenager who died like climbing between balconies.

‘He was on holiday with his parents and they went with him to the hospital.
‘He fell from the second floor. The alarm was raised at 7.30am and he died in hospital four hours later.
‘An investigation is ongoing but foul play has been ruled out.’
No-one from the apart-hotel where the tragedy occurred was available for comment this morning.
The tourist complex is in the east coast resort of Costa Teguise.
Its website describes it as being in one of the most beautiful spots in the resort, overlooking the water sports hub of large Las Cucharas Beach on one side and the charming sand beach of El Jablillo on the other.
A duty court in Arrecife has been placed in charge of the judicial probe into the incident. It is expected to be notified of autopsy results and a police report in the coming hours.
