Let's take a closer look at her life as she gets engaged…

Who is Sacha Parkinson?

Sacha was born on March 11, 1992 and hails from Salford, Greater Manchester. The actress secured her first big role back in 2003 at the age of 11 when she starred as Tasha in Channel 4's adaptation of Jacqueline Wilson's The Illustrated Mum.

Just a few years later in December 2008, she secured the role of Sian Powers and joined the cobbles. Her first appearance in Weatherfield was in January 2009, as a friend of Sophie Webster, played by actress Brooke Vincent.

The girls went on to become the first lesbian couple on the soap in 2010. The storyline proved a hit with viewers and Sacha's contract was extended until 2011.

After three years on the ITV soap, Sacha made the decision to leave and filmed her last scenes in November 2011. In a statement at the time, the TV star said her reason for quitting Corrie was to "work on other projects".

In true soap style, her last episode was certainly dramatic as her character who was due to marry Sophie, called off the wedding after discovering she had been unfaithful. The last scene was aired on December 30, 2011, as Sian left the cobbles heartbroken over Sophie's betrayal.

But that wasn't the end for Sacha who went on to appear in a string of TV roles including The Royal, The Street, The Bill and Grange Hill in 2007. As well as this, she's also starred in Waterloo Road, Doctors, Survivors, Shameless, Safe House and Mr Selfridge.

Sunny snaps

Away from TV, Sacha can be found on Instagram sharing a series of stunning snaps while on holiday or in the dressing room ready for another role. Just a few months before her engagement, the actress posted a photo as she posed by a luxurious swimming pool in Marbella alongside a pal.

They were both donning black swimsuits with a beverage in hand. Before this, she took a sweet snap of her adorable pooch sitting underneath a Great Britain flag in celebration of the King's Coronation.

Health condition

In March 2021, Sacha took to Instagram during Endometriosis Awareness month to send love to others with the condition. The soap star revealed she was diagnosed with the incurable illness in February 2018 and has since continued to raise awareness.

In the post in March she wrote: "For those of you who aren’t aware, Endometriosis is a chronic and incurable illness, affecting a staggering 1 in 10 people assigned female at birth! It is the second most common gynaecological condition in the UK and it is listed as one of the top 20 most painful conditions to live with.

"Sadly, due to the lack of education, awareness and the shame surrounding gynaecological health, Endometriosis takes on average 8 years to be diagnosed. Which increases the severity of the condition and can often lead to infertility. THIS HAS TO CHANGE!

"I am 1 in 10 babyyy. You better believe I will be wearing this colour with so much pride this month, as we spread awareness and shine a light on this complicated illness.

"Sending loads of love to my endo sisters."
