Nigel Farage is set to become the next king of the I’m A Celebrity jungle – according to former campmate Lembit Opik.
The ex-Lib Dem MP and Cheeky Girls botherer, who took part in the 2010 I’m A Celeb series, reckons the former UKIP loudmouth will be able to take everything thrown at him on the ITV show in Australia.
The 58-year-old said: “He is a natural for the jungle. He’s about the only person to survive the political jungle without significant injury. I think he’ll find the bugs far less aggressive than his opponents in Westminster.

“I think he’ll win. I know Nigel. I consider him a good friend. He is the same off-camera as he is on-camera. Whether you like him or not, you have to admire his consistency,” he added.
The former leader of the Welsh Liberal Democrats, who dated Cheeky Girl Gabriela Irimia in 2008, was commenting following reports that Garage had been offered £1m to appear on I’m A Celebrity. And he reckons because of his ‘Marmite’ character he stood a good chance of going all the way.
He said: “The thing is, if everyone who likes Marmite votes for him he’ll win.
“He is a giant in terms of recognition levels and opinions. I learnt that in that show what matters more than anything else is your recognition level – more than your popularity.
“When you meet Nigel, he’s impossible to dislike. Anyone who dislikes him is showing themselves up because he is such a characterful and bighearted person.
“I would be amazed if he shows any weakness in the trials,” he confessed. But Lembit reckons his pal will struggle when it comes to abstaining from alcohol for any length of time.
He added: “I’d say his biggest problem is that there isn’t a pub in the jungle. He’d admit that himself probably. For Nigel having a small amount of booze will be like a hungry person having a sandwich – it’s just remind you how hungry you are.
“Many who’ve gone on the show have come out of it more popular than when they went into the jungle. Even Matt Hancock came out looking better than when he went in. He came out with an enhanced reputation from a very low base.”

It is rumoured the former politician would be set to cash in up to £1million for his participation in the ITV reality show. The MP previously revealed that he had been invited to join the cast "several times".
But it appears as though he may have had a change of heart after watching Matt Hancock take part on the show last year. According to The Sun, producers have already enlisted jockey legend Frankie Dettori and This Morning's Josie Gibson.
