Coronation Street favourite in shooting horror after being kidnapped by gangsters | The Sun

A TOP Coronation Street favourite is set to become embroiled in a shooting horror after being kidnapped by gangsters.

Teaser images for ITV show the violence unfold as part of a hard-hitting storyline which sees a handful of famous faces making their soap comebacks.

The Sun was first to report how thug Damon Hay was returning for his revenge plot.

The drug dealer is heading back to Weatherfield, having left the cobbles earlier this year following his affair with Sarah Barlow.

He was forced to flee back in June in a dramatic exit after Sarah's husband Adam's jealousy was taken to new heights when their affair – and Sarah's subsequent pregnancy – was exposed.

Coronation Street's producer Iain MacLeod previously revealed that on New Year’s Eve, Adam will be faced with Damon’s return after trying to have him killed by rival gangsters.

They are seen filming in the rain, with Adam perched on a set of wooden pallets.

It remains to be seen if Damon pulls the trigger – or if there's another twist in the gripping tale.

Previously, soap boss Iain also revealed to us that Will Mellor will be reprising his role as gangster Harvey Gaskell, Damon's half-brother.

The Sun Online has also revealed that actor Anthony Crank is back filming as drug dealer Dean Turnbull.

Iain said Damon “has been somewhere away from Coronation Street plotting his revenge."

He added: “It arrives as a fairly blunt force on, as I say, the first episode in the new year if I'm remembering correctly, and then the story then becomes a kind of love triangle where Damon, we also imagined, has been spending his intervening months pining for Sarah.

“Like can he have his revenge and also have Sarah? The answer might well be no, so which one is he going to choose? It's a brilliant, exciting, high octane story."

Hinting at a deviation from his violence, Iain continued: "As it shakes down, Damon's revenge may start to take a backseat to his feelings for Sarah.”
