BBC Strictly finalists pose with coveted Glitterball trophy as judge reveals who they think should win
Strictly Come Dancing legend Dame Arlene Phillips has urged fans to leave Layton Williams alone following the constant social media trolling he's faced as she hinted at why he'd be a worthy winner.
Arlene, who judged on the Strictly panel for four years, discussed the upcoming Strictly final on Friday's episode of Lorraine as new photographs of the three finalists have been released.
Layton will compete in this weekend's grand finale of the BBC dance competition with professional partner Nikita Kuzmin – against fellow stars Ellie Leach and Bobby Brazier.
The Strictly finalists beamed as they took it in turns to pose alongside the coveted Glitterball trophy – which one pair will lift on Saturday's live show.
Speaking about Layton on Lorraine ahead of the final, Arlene said: "He was invited onto the show. He didn't stomp his way in! Why should he turn it down?
"He has worked hard and been committed and we should enjoy what he does! It doesn't say he's going to win anyway but don't throw hate at him."
She also went on to describe Layton as an "absolutely extraordinary" and the most "wonderful, adorable and positive human being" that she has ever come across in dance.
She added: "The thing is, as a dancer in ballroom and Latin, Layton has found it hard. Naturally, his feet turn in, that doesn't work, and he has worked and worked and worked on it.
"He doesn't understand a Rumba, [it's] hard for him. But he works absolutely non-stop to find what's needed.
"Yes, he has an advantage. He knows what his body's doing but I think the biggest thing… The winners of Strictly have always had that extra something where they just break through the camera and your TV at home, and just live for dancing."
"The dance training in the end, doesn't make them a winner," the star reiterated.
She added: "What makes Layton [a possible winner] is the brilliance in what is created. It's electric. Enjoy what he does, enjoy what he has. Love him for what he can do."
Arlene's revelation comes as new images of the Strictly finalists have been released as this year's season of Strictly Come Dancing draws to a close.
Bobby Brazier and Dianne Buswell will go up against Ellie Leach and Vito Coppola, and Layton Williams and Nikita Kuzmin in Saturday's Strictly final.
Layton looked confident as he posed in a white vest alongside Nikita who looked suave in an open blue shirt while Bobby and Dianne sported matching black T-shirts for their moment with the Glitterball trophy.
While Ellie and Vito opted for matching jeans and black tops for the photo op.
The final three celebrities prepare to battle it out on the dancefloor to lift the GlitterBall trophy this weekend.
Each couple will perform their favourite routine from the series, one picked by the judges for them to have another go at, and a new show dance.
