I’d stashed £40k by the time I was 26 thanks to savvy saving – my five best dupes for autumn including a £6 Gucci copy | The Sun
With autumn well and truly upon us, many people will be starting to think about how to save a few pennies in the run up to Christmas.
But as the nights draw in and the weather takes a turn, it’s understandable that you’d still want to treat yourself to a little something nice to perk you up a bit.
So with that in mind, one money-saving maestro has shared five of her top dupes that mean you can still enjoy a few goodies without an eye-watering price tag.
Matilda is known on social media as @AMillenialSaver, and has racked up nearly 15k Instagram followers with her fab tips about how to grow your bank account while still enjoying the finer things in life.
And she’s a pretty good authority on it: by the age of 26, the savvy saver had stashed away 40k through her thrifty tactics and investing.
In a recent post, the canny creator revealed her top five dupes that you can currently pick up in stores to stay “boujee on a budget” this autumn.

Her first shout out goes to Boohoo’s Embroidered Slip On Cosy Mules, which have been causing a furore on social media due to their being almost indistinguishable from the Ugg Tasman Suede Slippers.
But while Ugg’s pair would set you back an eye-watering £100, Boohoo’s version are just £25 – a mere quarter of the price.
Her second recommendation is for the cosmetics aficionados out there: swap Benefit’s Roller Lash Lifting and Curling Mascara, which comes in at £25.50 a tube, for Elf’s £6 Lash ‘n’ Roll Mascara.
Shoppers clearly agree, with the product having an average 4.5/5 star rating on the Elf website.

“Finally!” one customer gushed. “An affordable mascara that checks all of the boxes. I wore it through doctor’s appointment, an MRI, crying, and it never budget until I took my make-up off at 7pm… It applies beautifully and holds the curl.”
Matilda’s third top-tier dupe is M&S’s Faux Leather Underarm Shoulder Bag, which in its embellished colourway closely resembles Prada’s Satin Mini-Bag With Crystals.
The high street one comes in at just under £30, while Prada’s would cost you a massive £2.1k – a saving of over £2k for a product just as pretty.
The economical influencer also loves Primark’s Flourish Eau de Parfum, which at £6 a bottle, you might want to consider instead of Gucci’s £65 Gorgeous Jasmine Eau de Parfum.
Both are light and floral scents perfect for those looking for something feminine and fresh, and the Primark fragrance comes in a pretty glass bottle that closely resembles the packaging of celeb-staple Chanel No 5.
Her final nod goes to Aldi’s Côtes de Provence Rosé, a £8.49 tipple that tastes just like Whispering Angel, but comes in at £12.50 cheaper.
It’s the perfect light wine for snuggling up with a blanket on the sofa as the evenings get darker and colder.
Matilda’s followers quickly flooded the comment section with love for the savvy swaps, with many immediately updating their shopping lists.
“Was just talking about these Uggs the other day…” one wrote, “and how extortionate they are for some fluff. Great finds!”
