Could Dane Rashford's domestic violent charge push family apart?
How Marcus Rashford’s brother Dane shared a bunk-bed with his sibling during tough childhood, acted as his agent during the Man U star’s stellar career and had a romance with Kyle Walker’s influencer ex girlfriend
Dane Rashford once shared a bunk-bed in a council home with his Manchester United and England star brother Marcus before going on to live a lavish lifestyle driving a £120,000 Mercedes-Benz and having a high-profile romance with influencer Lauryn Goodman.
The 31-year-old football agent was arrested on October 20 in Miami accused of ‘punching’ his girlfriend Andrea Pocrnja after scouring her phone for text messages from another man, according to a police report. She is the mother of his 14-month-old child.
He has pleaded not guilty to battery, which was further specified as domestic violence.
Dane comes from a working-class background and grew up in Greater Manchester alongside his siblings. His mother would work until 10pm most days just to put food on the table.
The family spent their early years hopping between homes in the suburbs of Manchester, most notably Moss Side – known for its gang violence at the time.
The brood would eventually settle in a £150,000 terraced house in Wythenshawe where he would share a bunk-bed with his younger brother Marcus, as their mother worked three jobs at bookies Ladbrokes, a cleaner, and washing pots and sometimes skipping meals to ensure her children were fed.

His mother spoke in 2020 of the family’s earlier struggles, telling the Evening Standard: ‘Sometimes it was really bad, I’d rather give the food to the kids than give it to myself, sometimes I didn’t get anything to eat.

‘Sometimes we didn’t even have a loaf of bread in the house, it’s embarrassing to say, but we didn’t.’
As Marcus’ football career began to soar at Manchester United, he kept his brothers close with the desire for an ‘unfussy’ life, reported The Times, with Dane being pictured alongside Red Devils legend Sir Bobby Charlton when his brother signed his first professional deal.
His mother is at the heart of ‘Team Rashford’ and Dane and another brother became his agents and guiding light in his career. They started their own company DN May Sports Management in 2015 and helped to secure the United striker’s recently reported new £325,000 a week deal.
They have seen his career blossom from playing junior football with Fletcher Moss Rovers to joining United’s academy programme at the age of 11 and then making his senior debut as an 18-year-old under former manager Louis van Gaal.
The company describes itself on its website as having ‘hard work, determination, and a drive for constant improvement’ as it core values, and has partnership deals with Nike, GQ, PlayStation and Burberry.
In 2020 Marcus linked up with Jay-Z’s sports agency Roc Nation to manage his off-field-affairs. His family continued to oversee his playing career.
A year earlier Dane was beaten up and robbed at gun point as he ate breakfast at a Caribbean restaurant with Trent Alexander-Arnold’s sibling, Tyler.
The friends, who were left bruised and bloodied, were rushed to the city’s Royal Infirmary Hospital after the brutal beating at Manchester’s Moss Side by the gun-toting gang.
Dane would have been pivotal in helping Marcus secure his new reported £325,000 a week deal at Manchester United

Staff who witnessed the attack were left ‘traumatised’ by what they saw. Dane had a sawn-off shotgun pointed at his face and was robbed of his £22,000 Rolex Daytona and was struck on the head with a bat.
He needed stitches after the raid.
In January this year, Tariq Dervan, 22, Romario Harmer, 21 and Talleko Lemonious, 28, were convicted following a trial at Minshull Street Crown Court in Manchester of five counts of robbery and three counts of possession of an offensive weapon.
Three months later Dervan, from Staffordshire, was jailed for five-and-a-half years; and Harmer, from Old Trafford, Manchester, for four years.
Lemonious, from Wythenshawe, was additionally sentenced for possession of a firearm and possession of ammunition linked to an unrelated crime. He was jailed for 18 years in total.

Speaking of the incident, Dane said he could not see what was happening but felt a ‘prick’ on his back before he saw the gun being pointed towards his face.
Dane was dating Lauryn Goodman – the sister of reality star Chloe – at the time of the attack who posted on her Instagram page in 2019 after the robbery: ‘Today was a reality check, the world can be so cruel.’
She continued: ‘Be grateful for every second of every day that you get to spend with the people you love. Life is so very precious.’
The pair’s romance came to light in 2018 when the pair travelled to Russia to support brother Marcus as he played for England in the World Cup.
Their relationship had been kept under wraps with the pair choosing not to share any pictures together on social media, but a source told MailOnline: ‘They met abroad on holiday through mutual friends over a year ago.
‘It got serious pretty quickly and they’ve been happily together ever since.’
They split up in February – a month after Dane was attacked – with Lauryn apparently fed up with his ‘jet-setting life’, reported The Sun. Lauryn would go on to have a secret romance with Manchester City defender Kyle Walker.
Dane’s life appeared to be on an upward curve with a video posted in 2020 by Stratsone Mercedes-Benz dealership in Bradford showing him with a tooth-filled grin on his face as he pulled off the covers of his brand new £120,000 G-Class motor.
Pictures show him working out at the gym and with his family in the rare posts he makes to the 118,000 followers on his Instagram page.
And his arrest will be a blow to the family with the him being cuffed in Florida on October 20 accused of ‘striking’ his girlfriend with it coinciding with Marcus’ rapid decline in form on the pitch. He denies the accusation.
Dane was on holiday with his partner Andrea Pocrnja where the pair were staying at the Kimpton Angler’s Hotel in Miami Beach. The pair have a 14-month-old child together.
The news broke just hours after his brother and England forward Marcus was sent-off last night during Manchester United’s 4-3 defeat to Copenhagen in Denmark during their Group A Champions’ League clash.
Pocrnja was lying on the bed crying and had ‘visible injuries to her face’, the complaint goes on.
‘The victim stated that the arrestee struck her in the face twice with a closed fist. The arrestee then got out of the Uber and walked away with the victim’s phone.
‘Once the victim was inside their hotel room, the arrestee entered the hotel room and a verbal argument ensued in regard to the text messages he saw on her phone.
‘The victim was on the phone with the front desk in an attempt to get the Wi-Fi password so that she could disable her phone that the arrestee had at the time.
‘The arrestee assumed that the victim was calling the police and a physical altercation began, which she does not remember specifics of because she was intoxicated.’
The police report says that Dane’s sister was babysitting the couple’s toddler and both her and the child were in the hotel room when the bust-up unfolded.
She witnessed her brother becoming irate, kicking a closet door and causing visible damage.
But ‘the witness stated that she did not see the arrestee strike the victim at any point,’ the complaint says.
Dane was taken to jail at 3:30am while Pocrnja – who has been dating Dane for four years and shares a home with him in Wilmslow, just outside Manchester, northwest England – was taken to another hotel room because she felt ‘unsafe.’
The complaint adds that her injuries were photographed by police and she was treated by a first responder. There is no mention of her being taken to the hospital.
A phone number listed on the arrest documents for Dane, who was released on a $1,500 cash bond, was out of service when DailyMail.com rang for comment.
Dane was ordered to have no contact with his alleged victim.
He submitted a written plea of not guilty to battery, which was further specified as domestic violence, and is due in court for an arraignment on November 27.
According to Miami-Dade County police records, Dane’s bond was paid by his sister a week after his arrest.
