Janet Street Porter rang friend after fourth wedding to say ‘I’ve made a terrible mistake’
Janet Street-Porter admitted she rang a friend after her fourth wedding to admit she had “made a terrible mistake”.
During Tuesday’s Loose Women, the panel discussed how private they like to keep their personal relationships.
When it came to Janet, the 76-year-old had her ITV co-stars in stitches with her candid confession.
Christine Lampard explained: “If there’s a bit of excitement maybe, particularly if it’s a new relationship or you’ve just got engaged or married, the big milestones I understand.

“Well… when I got married the fourth time I didn’t so much do an Adele and pop on a big hairdo and lovely dress and tell everyone at a concert…
“I’d rung up a friend and said, ‘I’ve made a terrible mistake,’ that’s how the news was released.”
As the audience laughed, Christine summarised: “That was you sharing.”
“That was the way I shared,” Janet confirmed.

Janet’s colleague Coleen Nolan had admitted she took a very different approach.
“I can’t keep my mouth shut, I can’t help it,” she stated.
She went on: “During my last break up with Ray it had been going on for about a year, we hadn’t actually said, ‘We’re going to split up,’ but it had been bad.
“So when I was on Loose Women and we were talking about relationships, I was like…
“Everyone was going, ‘Why are you so quiet?’ because I thought I can’t make out like it’s all good when it’s not.
“But then it’s not fair on him to do that on air…
“So yeah, so it’s a really dodgy one but I’m one of those where I’d rather it just all be out there.”
Loose Women airs weekdays from 12.30pm on ITV.
