BBC Strictly Come Dancing new ‘fix’ row emerges as Angela Rippon’s saved again

Strictly: Angela Rippon performs her Paso Doble

Strictly Come Dancing fans have hit out over the results of tonight’s dance-off, with some branding the result a “fix”.

Krishnan Guru-Murthy and Angela Rippon were trying to impress judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Anton Du Beke and Head Judge, Shirley Ballas in the dance-off.

Krishnan performed a Samba to Bamboléo by Gipsy Kings before Angela took on the Paso Doble to Hung Up by Madonna.

While Craig opted to save Angela, he did say: Well Krishnan you really upped your game in that dance-off, it was magnificent.

“Angela you nearly lost your supporting leg darling in the kick but you saved it, miraculously. But the couple that I would like to save and go through to Blackpool are Angela and Kai.

Anton and Motsi also opted to save Angela, but Shirley told host Tess Daly she would have saved Krishnan.

Viewers flooded to X, formerly known as Twitter, to comment on the judges’ decision to axe Krishan and send Angela through to Blackpool Week.

Iver fumed: “#Strictly Fixed fixed fixed!!! Boo! Angela should have been kicked out! Krishna was much better.”

A second fan fumed: “This is an absolute travesty! Angela is a one-trick pony! #Strictly #Krishnan.”

A third said: “Krishnan is what #Strictly is all about. Seeing how happy and emotional he was as the group came onto the dance floor and hugged him has sent me.”

Suz shared: “I feel sorry for Angela Rippon she hasn’t got the public vote & the judges saved her. Hope she does well at Blackpool #Strictly.”

Michael remarked: “Angela and Kai NAILED that dance-off performance. Far more accomplished and technically stronger performance, so the right decision was made.

“Krishnan upped his performance, but Angela was the much better dancer. One little slip at the end doesn’t undo that. #Strictly.” (sic)

Krishnan said after learning about his exit: “Look, this has been the most incredible experience. I said it has been life-changing and it genuinely has.”

The 53-year-old added: “The thing that has made Strictly really special is Lauren. She is the most incredible teacher, partner, and friend.

“She is the real Strictly star and I am so delighted I am the first partnership you have had. She is going to go a long way and I am very proud of her.”

Strictly Come Dancing continues on Saturday evening on BBC One.
