Antiques Road Trip expert sells Corrie star’s handcuffs for disappointing value
During the latest series of Celebrity Yorkshire Auction House, which begins tonight, Angus Ashworth got to rummage through the homes of TV presenter Anthea Turner’s father and Coronation Street star Simon Gregson.
During the third season, he also paid a visit to the homes of Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, Crissy Rock, Frazer Hines, Jenny Powell, Amanda Barrie, Tim Vincent, Dom Joly, and Lizzie Cundy.
After visiting them in their trendy Manchester townhouses, Cotswold mansions, and rundown Welsh farmhouses, Angus returned with his van filled with VIP goodies to his saleroom in the town of Kirkbymoorside.
However, speaking in an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk, the Antiques Road Trip star shared some of his highlights while filming for the series.
He also recalled selling a pair of Simon’s Edwardian handcuffs, and while it didn’t fetch an awful lot at auction, it did make for a good talking point.

The soap star let Angus take what he wanted from his garage and annex as he wanted to sell what he could to buy his son a car.
Among the items, Angus found fossils, an array of Rolex watches, and a rather retro arcade machine.
However, the expert was left lost for words when he found the Edwardian pair of handcuffs.
Angus discovered the handcuffs hidden away in a box in Simon’s garage. As he picked them up, he noted: “Handcuffs as you would, you know.

“Look at that, 1916 and these are military issue because they have got the broad arrow mark on it.”
He added: “I have never been in a set of those, I was never in trouble in the military police, they’re missing their key but it’s a fairly standard one.”
Despite giving an estimate of £40, Angus managed to sell the unusual item for £32 when it went under the hammer.
Discussing the series, Angus went on to tell Express.co.uk: “Amanda (Barrie) across the board was really good, she had lots of interesting bits and bobs just in the shed from back in the day.

“There were all sorts of quirky pieces and Lawrence (Llewelyn-Bowen) had some artwork by him and a ceramic pumpkin that did well.
“He had some interesting bits as you would expect and I have to say, probably the nicest house I’ve ever been to.
“And on the other extreme, we got an exhaust pipe off Simon Gregson so it’s a complete contrast, so you never know what you’re going to get off of these people.”
The expert added: “You never know quite what you’re going to find with celebrities…sometimes it is a bit wack and weird and wonderful.”
Turning his attention to when items don’t make as much at auction as he’d hope, Angus said: “I think sometimes and the celebrities a little bit more, they might have paid a lot of money for things some point and they’re not necessarily worth that on the second-hand market.
“And sometimes you have to manage their expectations a little bit.”
Celebrity Yorkshire Auction House airs on Monday at 9pm on Really.
