‘Massive shark’ filmed swimming off coast of UK leaves public ‘horrified’
A "massive shark" sighting on a UK shore was deemed "strange" by a member of the public who captured images of it.
The creatures are a rare sight in the waters off Cornwall, but one predator appeared to fancy its chances in the icy waters of Penzance last weekend.
Rebekka Werren captured footage showing what is believed to be a shark swimming around the area. Said footage shows what may be a fin protruding from the sea close to Penzance Promenade, CornwallLive reports.

Members of the public were drawn to the confusing sighting, with a crowd forming around the promenade while Rebekka was filming.
Rebekka, who had been walking with her parents and partner at the time of the sighting on December 10, has since labelled the encounter "strange".
She shared her footage to Instagram and wrote: "I’m horrified it was this close to the shore and MASSIVE." Rebekka said: "I posted it to see if anyone who knows about sharks could offer some insight into what species. I haven’t had any luck with that but was watching it from Penzance prom swimming around for a good 10/15 minutes and it was definitely a shark of some sort.
"Definitely strange, never seen anything that big so close to shore. It was on Sunday about midday-ish. I was with my parents and my partner. There were plenty of people around and a few others were watching it as well."
Members of the public were split on what it could really be, if not a shark. One person suggested it could be a sleeping seal rather than a fine.
Others noted it was not the time of year for sharks to be spotted in UK waters, with the cold temperatures not usually for them. They are sometimes spotted close to the promenade through spring and early summer.
