‘King Charles’ was ‘booed’ by Diana fans in musical, says Loose Women star
LW: Diana fans ‘hiss and boo’ at ‘King Charles’ in musical
An actor portraying King Charles was treated like a pantomime villain by Diana fans during a recent stage production, according to Loose Women panellist Denise Welch.
The audience at the Eventim Apollo didn’t hold back when it came to their feelings about the character during Diana: The Musical. The show started on Broadway but has become a viral sensation and so was brought to the UK for a special showing on December 4.
After her one-night-only performance as Queen Elizabeth in the stage show, Denise Welch appeared on Loose Women and spilled the beans on the reaction.
“We had no idea how this would be received,” she said on the ITV show panel. “So I’m a bit discombobulated and overwhelmed today because we had 3,500 people on their feet.
“They were hissing and booing for Charles and Diana. The moment I announced ‘Alright Diana you are to be divorced’ – huge massive rapturous applause.”

The musical focuses on the late princess’ life post-divorce and her youth. Denise’s account of the show, comes as King Charles deals with the fallout of Omid Scobie’s explosive new book, Endgame.
Presenter Denise has also been dealing with her own issues having had to take to social media over the weekend to confirm she’s “alive and well” after vicious rumours appeared online.
The Loose Women star was the victim of a barrage of tweets wrongfully implying she had died on Sunday evening (December 3). The 65-year-old’s Wikipedia page had also been temporarily changed stating she had died as her name began to trend across social media.
