I’m A Celebrity 2023 is the most complained about series since 2016, it’s been revealed
This year's I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here is the most complained about series yet.
New research has shown that the 2023 instalment of the ITV series, hosted by Ant and Dec, has received more than 2,000 complaints so far.
Casinos Sweeps tracked how many issues had been flagged with Ofcom from the last eight seasons between November 2016 and December 2023.
They determined that this year's show, which has seen Nigel Farage, Sam Thompson and Marvin Humes in the jungle, ranked number one with the most complaints ever at 2,794 filed to Ofcom.
The winner of this year's series will be crowned this weekend on Sunday, December 10.
The second most complained about is series 22 last year, with 1,224 complaints filed. This series had 10.94 million viewers, and former English Footballer, Jill Scott, was the crowned the winner.
Series 20 is the third most complained about, with 11.05 million viewers, 1,203 complaints were filed. Author, Giovanna Fletcher won the series, with dancer Jordan North in 2nd place.
Series 18 is the fourth most complained about, achieving an impressive 12.18 million viewers, it received 398 complaints. The winner of series 18 was Football legend, Harry Redknapp.
One reason for the high number of complaints could be due to the tensions in camp this year.
YouTuber Nella Rose had arguments with chef and First Date's star Fred Sireix while Nigel Farage being a contestant ruffled a few feathers with fans.
Food critic Grace Dent and actress Jamie Lynn Spears also both quit the show on medical grounds.
A spokesperson for Casinos Sweeps has commented on the study findings: "Series 23 has seen several arguments and clashes between campmates including Fred Sirieix, Nella Rose, and Jodie Gibson.
"On November 28, Ofcom received 246 complaints relating to a variety of issues, including 91 complaints objecting to comments from Nella to Nigel and 80 complaints alleging unfair treatment of Nigel in the series by ITV.
"Complaints have even been directed at Ant and Dec. One tweet says, "Why are Ant & Dec helping so much with the trials on this series? #ImaCeleb".
"It is interesting to see the rise in complaints for TV shows. According to Ofcom, complaints are still slightly higher than they were in 2022, proving broadcasters still have work to do in improving viewers experiences."
