Coronation Street fans ‘work out’ identity of Sarah Platt’s father in DNA twist

Coronation Street: Adam exposes lying pregnant wife Sarah at gender reveal party

Coronation Street viewers believe they have worked out a huge soap star could be making their way to Weatherfield. It comes after Sarah Platt (played by Tina O’Brien) made a shocking discovery in recent scenes.

Last week, fans of the ITV soap watched as Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls) gathered up Stephen Reid’s (Todd Boyce) belongings. One of which included a diary from his youth. Wanting to have a nosy into the killer’s thoughts from his youth, David Platt (Jack P Shephard) looked into his uncle’s diary and mocked the entries. Although he made a shocking discovery.

Inside the contents, Stephen aired that his sister Gail Platt (Helen Worth) was initially unsure of who Sarah’s father really was. Despite no name being mentioned, fans learned the mystery man in question was Australian.

Not wanting to keep secrets from his sister, especially after the year they’ve faced as a family, David decides to tell Sarah everything. Her father has always been believed to be Brian Tilsley (Christopher Quinten), although that may no longer be the case.

It wasn’t long before fans took to Twitter to share who they believed her mystery father could be, with many thinking a well-known soap star could be making an appearance soon.

@LeroyStHillwell said: “Bring in Jason Donovan as Sarah’s dad.”

@homebrew19721 added: “Sarah’s dad could be played by some actor from #neighbours or #homeandaway #Corrie.”

@FrankieLC86 commented: “#corrie I’d love to see Jason Donovan as Sarah’s dad they said it would be an Aussie?”

@penniless_poet suggested: “Never mind Jason Donovan as Sarah’s dad. What about Liam Hemsworth aka Thor? #Corrie”

@homebrew19721 later speculated: “Sarah’s real dad will show up in a few months.”

With @RyanTheSoapking adding: “I wonder if Bethany’s return will come off the back of Sarah’s paternity twist?”

Sarah’s DNA bombshell isn’t the only drama she’s facing as her daughter Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) is making a comeback after three years away.

Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk and other media publications, Lucy touched on returning to the soap.

She said: “It feels really good! It’s really nice to come back in to be with the people that I was so used to working with for over five years.

“I was really nervous to go back! But, it just feels like I’ve never had that time away which actually feels quite bizarre because a lot of things have changed but it’s really good and I’m really happy to be back.”

Coronation Street continues Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV from 8pm.
