Souvenir knives as a gift
Souvenir knives
It is difficult to imagine a more versatile and necessary object in everyday life than a knife. You can’t do without it either in the kitchen or on a hike. An elegant paper knife will be a pleasant addition to the workplace, and a small EDC knife can be used even in urban conditions.
But souvenir knives rightfully occupy a special place in this list. With a classic steel or colored blade, with a handle made of rare wood, horn or bone, engraved and inlaid. One glance at such a blade is enough to learn more about a person than over the years of communication!
Often souvenir knives are made to order. Then a beautiful product is obtained, with which the owner feels a kind of affinity, from which he feeds on confidence.
A custom knife costs more than a beautiful blade from a store. But the customer can embody all his ideas: from the use of precious metals and unusual ways of decoration, to the manufacture of a whole composition of a knife, scabbard and stand, made in the same style.
All souvenir knives can be divided into three groups: so-called “pseudo-knives”, gift knives and hunting models.
A souvenir that looks like a knife
Technically, most of the classic souvenirs cannot be called cold weapons. It is assumed that such a knife will be used as an interior element or part of a collection. Sometimes these are replicas of real combat models. More often — just original products of exquisite shape.
A fake knife can look very similar to a real one. What is the difference from a combat blade:
* the blade is made of low-strength steel — after all, it is not assumed that the knife should withstand significant loads;
* the handle is also made of fragile materials that cannot withstand strong pressure;
* blade width – up to 5 mm;
* the blade enters the handle shallowly — which means it is not securely fixed enough to be used as a weapon.
This group also includes classic souvenir knives, which are endowed with functional significance. For example, original paper cutting blades, bottle opener knives or paper holders.
Functional Gift Knives
Such knives often look like works of art — thanks to the artistic design of the blade or handle. However, it is not assumed that the blade will always stand on the shelf to decorate the interior.
As a rule, these are practical products with good performance properties. Some of them are intended for use in everyday life, and some are even suitable for hunting.
Distinctive features are the manufacture of a handle made of precious wood or other rare materials, as well as the presence of a richly inlaid scabbard or an expensive case.
Knife as a gift to the hunter
In this group there are real knives for catching game and butchering it. What makes them different from the usual hunting ones is the materials. Most often custom hunting knives are made of damask or damask steel. The blade turns out to be much more durable than steel products of other brands. And yet – he just looks amazing! But such a gift is not cheap.
A hunter can also be presented with a universal knife. But a blade with a narrow scope of application will bring much more benefit:
* drop point is a model specifically for hunting big game. It can be used to finish off an animal, remove the skin, and carve the carcass;
* clip-point – knife for hunting small game. It is distinguished by a narrow blade, which can be used in any hunting;
* skinner is the most convenient knife for skinning an animal.
