EastEnders legend swaps fame for the paintbrush as he sells art for £225

Nitin Ganatra, best known for his role as Masood Ahmed in EastEnders, has undergone a career swap in the years since his exit from the soap.

Nitin's character Masood was at the centre of a number of the soap's dramatic storylines, including relationships with Ian Beale's ex-wife Jane and his mum Kathy, but departed the show back in 2019, with the character emigrating to Australia.

Since then, the actor, 56, has appeared in a number of TV shows, including an episode of Netflix's Wednesday, and Alan Carr's semi-autobiographical sitcom Changing Ends.

Alongside these TV appearances, Nitin has been focusing on his career as a painter and has a number of prints available for sale on his website, including two EastEnders-themed artworks.

Nitin recently shared some videos and photos of his art on Instagram, where he wrote: "Bleary eyed Sunday morning! I wanted to share this with you all!!!

"We have a new size of print of my art work! AND it's got this beautiful sheen to it that really makes the colours pop!! I got quite emotional seeing how this boys journey has taken a new life in the prints.

"My artwork is an expression of something that sits deep inside wanting and waiting to be heard. To find a voice. To live in the world. Safely."

He continued: "The response. Your response has been incredible and moving for me for so many reasons that I can't put in a post. I am stunned at how many of you look deeply into the paintings and connect with them on an emotional level.

"It doesn't suit me to paint pretty pictures, I can only paint from the heart, and hope that you look at them also, from the heart. I am deeply grateful for your response."

He added that all artworks will be signed and sent to the buyer with "love and gratitude."

Commenting on the post, fans were quick to compliment Nitin's art skills, with one writing: "@nitin.ganatra, beautiful work! It's on my list. I spent a few lovely hours with your screen daughter Hannah yesterday! Your ears may have been burning XX"

"Fabulous, a great unwrapping. A painting is indeed the unwrapping of the Artists’ mind. A kaleidoscope of colour. They are amazing , an exhibition soon would be wonderful @nitin.ganatra" added another.

And a third penned: "Morning @nitin.ganatra , the prints look amazing especially the size …beautiful… Have a blessed day."
