A woman stabbed by her partner after she told him to stop drinking has vowed to stand by him.
Remus-ionut Raducan was jailed for eight months for the horriffic attack on his unnamed girlfriend, which happened on September 14.
Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court heard that 31-year-old Raducan also kicked his victim in the stomach and punched her repeatedly to the face during the attack which started in their home and spilled out onto the street.
StokeLive reports that his terrified victim – who feared she was going to die – was left with cuts and bruises to her arms and a bruised eye.
The attack only ended when neighbours sheltered the woman and called police.
Prosecutor Omar Majid said: "His partner said, 'You should not take alcohol. You know it does not go well with you'.
"The defendant responded aggressively. He followed her and hit her to the left side of her face with an open hand. She felt pain close to her eye. She had never been hit like that before by the defendant. She tried to raise her hands to defend herself.
"He grabbed her jacket and pushed her back in the kitchen. He pushed her on the kitchen counter and continued to punch her repeatedly with fists and an open hand. He also kicked her in the stomach. She was crying because of the pain she was in.
"It escalated and he picked up a kitchen knife and made contact with her arms. She was screaming for help but no-one came. She was terrified. She believed she was going to die.
"The victim was seen coming out of the side door. She tried to hold it shut while he was trying to open it. She retreated to the garden looking terrified. He came out holding a knife. He made contact with her arms.
"In the street he grabbed her and threw her to the ground. He threw multiple punches at her head which connected. He got her in a headlock.

"Members of the public were concerned and one woman started recording the incident on her mobile. The victim was taken into a neighbour's property. The defendant was arrested."
Despite the horrific ordeal, the court heard that the victim still wants to be in a relationship with the defendant.
Raducan pleaded guilty to assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
Arif Hussain, mitigating, said the couple have lived together in this country for four years and there have been no previous incidents reported to the police.
