Warren Beatty, Joe Biden among pallbearers at McCain’s funeral

The pallbearers at Sen. John McCain’s DC memorial service will include actor Warren Beatty, Mayor Mike Bloomberg, former Vice President Joe Biden and a number of other Democratic politicians, according to reports.

Also among those helping carry the recently deceased Republican lawmaker’s coffin during a memorial service at the Washington National Cathedral on Saturday are former Secretary of Defense William Cohen, former Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Ridge, former Sen. Russ Feingold (D-Wisc.), former Sen. Gary Hart (D-Colo.), Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.), Russian activist Vladimir Kara-Murza and FedEx founder Fred Smith, The Hill reports.

Tributes will be read by former President Barack Obama, former President George W. Bush, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, former Sen. Joseph Lieberman (D-Conn.) and former Sen. Kelly Ayotte (R-N.H.).

On Friday, McCain is scheduled to lie in state at the Capitol Rotunda, with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, House Speaker Paul Ryan and Vice President Mike Pence giving remarks at a corresponding ceremony, the site reports.

The six-term senator will also lie in state at the Arizona Capitol on Wednesday — on what would have been his 82nd birthday — followed by a service in Phoenix Thursday, where Biden, former Arizona attorney general Grant Woods and Arizona Cardinals player Larry Fitzgerald will deliver eulogies.

President Trump, who regularly clashed with McCain, will not be attending any of the services.

Trump announced Monday that he will send White House chief of staff John Kelly, national security adviser John Bolton and Defense Secretary James Mattis to represent his administration at the funeral.

McCain will be buried in a private service at the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland on Sunday.
