A fourth monolith has popped up in Britain as the mysterious sculpture installing fad appears never-ending.
The latest in a series of metal figures appeared at the historic stone circle in St Buryan, Cornwall, on December 11.
It follows sightings in Dartmoor, the Isle of White and Glastonbury in the UK, The Sun reported.
Internationally, monoliths have been found in Romania, California, and Poland – paying homage to the original which was bizarrely found in the Utah desert.
Luke Brown stumbled across the tall structure in Cornwall and caught it on camera.
He said: “I was left in shock and awe earlier at finding a monolith at the centre of the Merry Maidens stone circle near sunset, the one time I left my camera at home.
“It was a thing of beauty but I can't help thinking of the damage that may have been done at this beautiful protected natural heritage site.”
The Cornish stone circle, also known as the Merry maidens or Daen’s Men, is believed to be a late neolithic circle.
The ancient circle has now been intruded on by the giant metal sculpture, which has a tall point on its top, unlike some other monoliths.
Man who 'discovered' monolith on Isle of Wight admits he made it himself
The finding is the latest in a spate of structures being found scattered across the UK.
One was seen on the top of a hill in Dartmoor, Devon, sparking a warning from the National Park.
“We know people may think these types of things are an interesting talking point, but it must be remembered that Dartmoor is a protected landscape for its importance for wildlife, nature and archaeology,” a spokesman said.
Another two monoliths were found on a beach in the Isle of White and on Glastonbury Tor respectively.
The mystery began when officials found a pillar in the Red Rock Desert in Utah in November. Adventurous flocked to find it and it has since been removed.
Following the first find, structures have been installed in Romania and on top of Pine Mountain in California.
