Two suspects arrested in fatal stabbing New Year’s Eve in Westminster
Two suspects have been arrested for a stabbing death on New Year’s at a Westminster convenience store.
Investigators have determined that the suspects knew the victim and the stabbing happened over a roughly $40 dispute, according to a police department news release.
The fatal stabbing occurred at about 6:20 p.m. Dec. 31 at a Circle K in the 7500 block of Sheridan Boulevard, police said. The victim was exiting the store when he was stabbed.
Deven Mykol Lamaster, 28, was arrested on Sunday in the area of West 72nd Avenue and Raleigh Street, police said. He is being held at the Adams County Jail.
A second suspect, Brett Philip Kalina, 28, was arrested in Illinois, police said, and a vehicle used during the incident was seized there. Kalina is being held in Illinois awaiting an extradition hearing to Colorado.
Both men are being held on suspicion of first-degree murder and aggravated robbery. An investigation is ongoing.
Police have identified a woman as a possible getaway driver in the case. Her name was not released Wednesday as investigators work to “determine the extent of her involvement,” the release said.
