DONALD Trump speaks to Vladimir Putin "like two guys in a steam bath" and once called German leader Angela Merkel "stupid" to her face, it's been alleged.
The unverified claims come in a report which says the US president is "outplayed" by the Russian leader during their one-on-one phone chats.
The CNN report – by legendary Watergate reporter Carl Bernstein – is said to be based on sources with access to hundreds of private calls involving foreign heads of state.
It paints a picture of a president bending over backward to win the approval of his hardline Russian counterpart.
The report also claims during classified calls, Trump brags about his success and characterizes his predecessors as "imbeciles' and weaklings."
It also alleges he told former British Prime Minister Theresa May she was "weak" and called German leader Merkel "stupid" during one meeting.
One of Bernstein's sources claimed Trump once told May she lacked courage and would "get nasty with her" on the phone.
Trump is also said to have called her a "fool" and said her approach to Brexit and NATO was "spineless."
It's reported the former PM would become "flustered" during the calls.
The CNN report alleges Trump called Merkel "stupid" to her face and his phone calls to her were "very aggressive."
German sources said in the wake of the conversations steps were taken to keep them secret.
"It's just a small circle of people who are involved and the reason, the main reason, is that they are indeed problematic," a source told Bernstein.
"Some of the things he said to Angela Merkel are just unbelievable: he called her 'stupid,' and accused her of being in the pocket of the Russians."
However, in the past the US president has previously claimed he had "unbelievable chemistry" with the German leader.
He once said: “Yeah it's funny, one of the best chemistries I had was with Merkel.”
When asked whether that was something he had expected before meeting her, Trump replied that he hadn’t.
He said: “No, because, um, I'm at odds on, you know, the Nato payments and I'm at odds on immigration.
“We had unbelievable chemistry. And people have given me credit for having great chemistry with all of the leaders, including el-Sissi … so it was a great thing to see that happen.
Sources said calls with the leaders of the UK, France, Germany, Australia and Canada normally started with Trump griping.
"With almost every problem, all it takes (in his phone calls)( is someone asking him to do something as President on behalf of the United States and he doesn't see it that way, he goes to being ripped off," a source said.
Two sources said Trump seems "delusional" during the calls, which included regular contact with Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
It's alleged the Turkish leader would be fast-tracked through to Trump whenever he called the White House.
The claims come after it was reported Trump was briefed on intelligence that Moscow had paid a bounty to Taliban elements for killings of US soldiers.
The White House on Monday vehemently denied the president was briefed about the reported program.
