An influencer has been arrested in Saudi Arabia after she appeared in a live video broadcast inviting a woman over for "fun".

Egyptian Tala Safwan was arrested in capital city Riyadh for posting 'immoral content'.

She allegedly appears in the video asking the female friend to come over at 3.30am because she is lonely.

According to Al Jazeera, the friend says she won't come over because it's too late, to which Safwan allegedly says: "Even better, because everyone will be asleep and they won't hear what I'll do to you.

"They won't hear your screams… from how much fun we'll be having."

Al Jazeera reports: "The Riyadh police arrested a resident who appeared in a broadcast talking to another with sexual content and suggestion that would prejudice public morals."

Safwan has five million followers on TikTok and over 800,000 subscribers on YouTube.

She appears online performing pranks and challenges and is said to be very popular among Arab teens and young adults.

The influencer has since claimed that the clip was taken out of context to create a scandal.

Homosexuality and cross-dressing can be punished with fines, public whipping, beatings, torture, imprisonment and death.

Saudi Arabia's criminal code is derived from Sharia law, the seventh-century Quran and the teachings of the prophets Tut and Muhammad.

This comes just days after the country's media regulator demanded YouTube remove adverts from its site that it considers offensive to Muslim values.

The regulator even threatened legal action after Saudi parents complained their children were being exposed to inappropriate content.
