The Arapahoe County Coroner identified the teenager killed after being ejected from a vehicle on Monday.
Victor Diaz-Duran Jr., 16, died from multiple blunt force trauma injuries due to a 2:40 a.m. crash at East Hampden Avenue and South Tower Road, the Arapahoe County Coroner said. Diaz-Duran was riding in the passenger seat at the time of the crash.
The driver of an Infiniti sedan lost control in the intersection, veered right, hit a tree, went airborne, hit a light pole and then a retaining wall before coming to a stop, according to Aurora police.
Aurora police said Tuesday that the crash investigation is still active and ongoing. They did not have an update on the condition of the driver, who was initially taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
Diaz-Duran was pronounced dead on the scene. It is not yet known if he was wearing a seatbelt.
