Stay-at-home dad crowdfunds so he can enjoy boozy Halloween weekend away

A stay-at-home dad has launched a crowdfunding campaign 1o splash out on a boozy Halloween weekend with his friends in his first break in months.

Daniel Lawson from Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire, is dad to two girls, aged one and five, and stays at home to support his wife, Rebecca, who is a full-time carer, Grimsby Live reports.

He takes care of the children, handles the housework and prepares the family meals.

But the last 18 months have been difficult for him, due to the pandemic while his wife has been working as a key worker in stressful circumstances.

He said: "It's been really tricky bringing up the girls whilst my wife is away at work.

"She's an amazing mum and does all the best she can to support us. I'm always at home tidying up and making meals for my family. I'm staring at four walls every day – it can be very demanding.

"I also make sure the children are dressed in the morning and my eldest daughter is taken to school on time. It can be exhausting."

Daniel has created a GoFundMe page in a bid to finally get out of the house and have some much deserved time away.

He added: "I love Halloween. It's my favourite time of the year. I've got some friends in Hull and I'd like to go and meet them for a boozy weekend over the Halloween period.

"I want to meet up with them to have quite a lot of pints and get really drunk. My wife plans to book some time off that weekend so she can look after the kids. It would be amazing if I could have a break from it all.

"We've been living on a basic salary so we don't have the money to fund the weekend ourselves.

"I don't get out much and it would be fantastic if anyone out there can support me by spreading my wings and enjoying myself. I would like the time to have a break away from it all."

Daniel's initial target is to reach £150 so that he can have a good weekend away from the family and the household chores.
