Satanist parents furious as school bans their kids from wearing demonic clothing

Satanists have persuaded a school district to change their dress code after students were banned from wearing satanic clothing.

The Pennsylvania school district had prohibited children from wearing items of "satanic nature" to school but reversed the rules after facing calls from an organisation.

Joseph Rose, the founder of Satanic Delco, was alerted by upset Satanists whose children go to schools within the Rose Tree Media School District about the guidelines.

“The idea that a public school, which really isn’t a place for religion to begin with, would allow all but one religion is just so obviously unfair and unconstitutional,” he told ABC TV station WPIV-TV.

He said that the rules were discriminatory against Satanists and said it took a month of lobbying the district with calls and emails before receiving an update on the policy.

Earlier this week, the district issued a statement that the wording which referenced 'satanic clothing' would be removed, reported WPVI-TV.

"Although we have had no complaints or concerns brought forward by any student, parent, or resident we will remove this language from our current dress code information in the student handbook," the statement read, according to the channel.

Following the statement, a Villanova law professor has shared her views on the case and said the district probably did the right thing.

Ann Juliano told the channel: "I really do like the way they phrased it. They recognize that there could be religious beliefs that issue, not that there are, but there could be, and therefore they would take it out."

Rose said he is glad that the district made the "right choice" and said he only hopes that other schools understand that "freedom of expression has to be given equally," he told USA Today.

On the Satanic Delco website it states they do not "promote a belief in a personal Satan.

The website reads: "We believe that religion can, and should, be divorced from superstition. … To embrace the name Satan is to embrace rational inquiry removed from supernaturalism and archaic tradition-based superstition.

"Satanists should actively work to hone critical thinking and exercise reasonable agnosticism in all things. "
