Political hopeful uploads explicit video with adult star to highlight policies
A US political hopeful has caused controversy by uploading a sex tape of a steamy encounter with a porn star.
For most political hopefuls, the emergence of a sex tape means the end of their campaign, but Mike Itkis, a US congressional candidate running as an independent, uploaded an explicit video “Bucket List Bonanza” to a popular porn site.
Mike says the 13-minute clip, showing him of him having sex with porn star Nicole Sage is “a conversation piece” intended to highlight his sex-positive policies.

Nicole introduces the video with a disclaimer – stressing that she has not been coerced into the encounter and is not under the influence of any drugs.
Mike, 53, told US news outlet City & State that Bucket List Bonanza was his first time having sex on camera, and stressed that he hadn’t taken part in the shoot because he was an exhibitionist.
“I’m very much an introvert,” he said. “I’m kind of a nerd who doesn’t like to be the centre of attention if I can avoid it. But I thought the issues I’m trying to address are so important… I wanted to have my issues talked about in some way.”
Among the policies listed on Mike’s campaign website are his strong opposition to “the conservative idea that sex should only happen between a man and a woman who are married to each other”.
He adds that people should have the right not to become a parent if they don’t want to, and that he wants to reframe the current debate over abortion rights in the US.

He also wants to decriminalise sex between consenting adults and legalise sex work.
Mike said that taking part in the sex video showed that his policies were about action, not just talk.
“If I would just talk about it,” he said, “ it wouldn’t demonstrate my commitment to the issue. And the fact I actually did it was a huge learning experience, and it actually influenced items on my platform.”
He’s running in New York’s 12th district, where he hopes to snatch the seat of Republican Jerry Nadler. Nadler himself is on the more liberal end of the Republican Party scale, supporting same-sex marriage, abortion rights and the decriminalisation of cannabis.
