Nan, 81, writes poem begging for visa for Egyptian lover, 36, after weeks apart

An 81-year-old nan has written a poem to ‘"stony-hearted bureaucrats" in the UK government in a bid to get her Egyptian toyboy a visa.

Iris Jones, 81, from Somerset, flew to Egypt to be with Mohamed Ahmed Ibriham, 36, who she married in November after meeting him on Facebook last year.

However, the love-struck OAP has since spent weeks apart from him as he remains in his homeland, unable to get a visa to stay in the UK.

Unsure of how long they will remain apart, Iris took to Facebook to share a poem about the distress it's caused, The Sun reported.

Part of it read: "To the immigration office, please do your very best.

"Grant Mohamed a visa, so he can leave Giza, for my little home in the west."

"It matters not that we got wed, while Governments get tangled in tape that's coloured red!"

Speaking to Metro previously, she revealed that she is relying on Mohamed joining her in her Somerset bungalow as she won't be returning to Egypt for the fourth time.

Iris admitted that the trips so far have been very expensive and that the environment in Egypt is ill-suited to her health.

Breaking down in tears, she said: "I get days when I’m alright and other days when I’m just crying all the time. I’m separated from someone I love, it’s so hard. I haven’t got time on my side, his lawyers know that."

  • 'I tried to do an Easter photoshoot with my dog and failed miserably'

She said that she's been "at Mohamed" about insisting his law firm "hurry up with the visa" and that she "doesn't know what the delay is".

The wait certainly hasn't been easy for Iris who said she's been "suffering from headaches and stress", desperate for her man to join her.

She said: "I’m going to the doctor to get a letter saying I’ve got so many health issues I need my husband with me in Britain, hoping they’ll bend the rules a bit and let him come over and look after me."

In January 2020, the pensioner had Holly Willoughby and Philip Schofield in hysterics on This Morning when she boasted about using "an entire tub of KY jelly" during her first night of passion with Mohamed.

Her family were said to be horrified by their relationship as her son, Stephen Jones, 53, told The Sun that it had torn the family apart and vowed that Mohamed would never be his stepdad.

The poem in full

Continents nor culture

is not the great divide,

But stony-hearted bureaucrats

who finally will decide.

Our future, yours and mine.

It matters not that we got wed,

while governments get tangled

in tape that's coloured red!

We just need to be together,

for this lady is not in her prime.

We're on opposite ends of the spectrum,

of that old adversary, time.

To the immigration office,

please do your very best.

Grant Mohamed a visa,

so he can leave Giza,

for my little home in the west.
