It comes as President Biden declared the storm a “Major Disaster”, thereby allowing Federal aid to be sent to help the recovery efforts.
The death was confirmed by the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s office on it Facebook page.
In a statement, it said: “Shortly after 8.30pm deputies received reports of a citizen possibly injured from a fallen tree at a residence off of Highway 621 in Prairieville.
“Deputies arrived on scene and confirmed that the victim is now deceased.”
The Louisiana Department of Health said: “We sadly can confirm our first storm-related death – 60-year-old male in Ascension Parish who had a tree fall in his home.”
