Horrifying video has emerged of a tiger sinking its teeth into the arm of a zookeeper.
The worker, named José de Jesús, was trying to pet the Bengal tiger during feeding time at the enclosure in Periban, west Mexico.
Right before the attack, as the footage shows, he places his hand through the wire fence while calling out to the big cat so that he could stroke it.
The animal turns its head, walks to the keeper and kicks the fence with his front paw.
But when the man touches its neck, the big cat's mood changes and sinks its teeth into José's right hand.
He screams in agony but the tiger refuses to let go.
José was rushed to a hospital where doctors suggested to amputate his right arm to save his life.
He refused and later as the complications set in, he died from a heart attack.
The grim video footage was reportedly released by the owner of the animals who kept them in a private zoo to show that the keeper had been negligent.
The tiger's owner said he had paid the medical bills for the man and added that he had all the necessary permits.
Local media reported it was being checked whether the owner of the tigers had permission from the Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources (Semarnat) to keep the animals.
It was reported that he also apparently keeps a lion and a crocodile at the same site.
Meanwhile in Indonesia, a man was grabbed by an orangutan and almost had his leg ripped off when he was pulled to the cage.
The man is said to have ignored a nearby warning sign that said not to get too close.
He has since apologised for jumping over the barrier to see the animal up close.
