Hawaii rocked by huge earthquake and 12 aftershocks: Shaking buildings spark panic

A 6.2 magnitude offshore quake was recorded southwest of the US state on Sunday. The earthquake struck around 17 miles (27km) from Naalehu, which is located in Hawaii County.

The quake was reported at 11.48am local time and reached a depth of 22 miles (35 km), the US Geological Survey (USGS) said.

The USGS initially reported the earthquake’s magnitude at 6.1, but it was later upgraded to 6.2.
