Harry’s ‘parent role’ triggered when he gets ‘visibly emotional’ in new video

Prince Harry became visibly emotional when his "parent role" was triggered as he made an appearance on video to present WellChild Awards online, a body language expert revealed.

The Duke of Sussex apologised to the winners on the video call for not being able to attend the awards service in person but he gave updates on his two child – Archie, three and Lilibet, one.

Body language expert Judi James said the dad-of-two showed "empathy" and appeared emotional when he shared adorable details about his child.

Judi told Express.co.uk: "He is often self-effacing, offering a sweet, double-handed wave of greeting and telling the first family that his real name is Henry, like their son, but he gets called Harry, adding ‘I have no idea why’.

"Harry becomes visibly emotional during these conversations, which is natural given the bravery of the children.

"He is clearly thinking of his own children as he speaks to them, which must make him even more moved."

During the conversation, he told a young boy: "You sound just like my son Archie really. The same little squeaky voice. I love it.

"They are doing great. Archie is very very busy and Lili is learning to use her voice, which great!"

The expert said the details magnified the empathy as his role as a parent was triggered.

Another part of the call saw Prince Harry in talks with Shakeerah Crowther, a 10-year-old survivor of a rare brain infection. The Mirror reported.

The youngster could be heard telling a clearly moved Harry: "I'm sorry about your grandmother the Queen."

Judi spotted Harry performing a "partial self-hug" when he rubbed his shoulder with one thumb in a self-comfort ritual before sucking his lips in and rubbing his nose.

"There is also a sad expression and a twisting of his mouth and a pulling up of his lower lip when the Queen is mentioned," she added.
