Gran’s arm ripped off as she’s tangled in seatbelt in horror carjacking by teens

A grandmother has been killed in a horror carjacking that saw her arm ripped off as she was kicked out of her vehicle.

The terrible incident happened when four teenagers allegedly stole Linda Frickey’s car in broad daylight on Monday (March 21) while she was still in it.

The 73-year-old then bled to death on the street in New Orleans, despite desperate attempts from passers-by to save her, reports

Linda’s distraught family said the four youngsters tried to kick her out of her 2021 Nissan, but she got tangled up in the seatbelt and they sped off while she was still attached to the car.

By Tuesday all four suspects had been nabbed by cops after their parents turned them in.

They included a 17-year-old boy and three girls – one of them 16 and the other two aged just 15.

Police said one of the 15-year-olds was the first to be arrested, after her own mother dobbed her in. The boy and one of the other girls were caught after his parents tipped off the cops. The last female suspect then handed herself in.

All four were booked on a charge of second-degree murder.

“As the suspects are juveniles, their names and photos will not be released by police,” a statement from New Orleans PD said.

Fox8 reported that Linda – who was still working as an insurance saleswoman, intending to retire in a month – was still alive when witnesses went to help her, but she bled out before emergency services arrived.

One witness said he spent five minutes vainly trying to call 911, although the city mayor’s office said emergency services were despatched immediately.

Linda’s sister JennyLynn Griffon told Fox8: “I can't say this enough: when they pulled away, and she was in that strap, they made the decision to murder her. They should pay for it.”

Her sister-in-law Kathy Richard said: “How can you kick her? It's just beyond comprehension. It's evil.

“You don't just go from being a kid in school, going to take a walk, to killing someone. It was murder. It was downright murder.”

Mayor LaToya Cantrell said: “I want to thank one of our parents, who stepped up, and she told her daughter 'You have to tell the truth and give it to them straight’. This young person did.”
