Girl, three, gets her hand stuck inside Matalan toy vending machine and has to be rescued by firefighters

Firefighters had to rescue a three-year-old girl who got her hands trapped inside a toy vending machine.

Crews were called to a Matalan store at Chilwell Retail Park in Nottingham at 2.30pm yesterday.

The girl, who was trapped for around an hour, had managed to get both of her hands trapped inside a Toy Podz vending machine.

Photographs taken at the scene inside the clothes and homeware store showed the crews using several pieces of equipment to pull her free.

Pete Hopkins, acting watch manager, said: ‘This was a challenging entrapment with a distressed little girl.

‘She has managed to wedge both her hands fully in the vending machine.

‘We used lots of equipment – including the odd cuddle – to free her without injury.’

Matalan have been approached for comment.

Toy Podz vending machines are created by Perform 365, which declined to comment.
