‘Disgusting’ bullies destroy grave of ‘rape victim’, 12, who took her own life

Horrid bullies have 'completely desecrated' the grave of a 12-year-old alleged rape victim who took her own life after months of physical and emotional abuse, a devastated mother has revealed.

Semina Halliwell, from Southport, Merseyside, was reportedly left 'traumatised' after a barrage of online abuse after the sexual offence, allegedly by a boy of a similar age, in February.

Back in July her mother Rachel Halliwell said she feared Semina's bullies would gatecrash the funeral, as images were being posted that showed people making fun of her death.

A family friend tragically found Semina's grave completely destroyed yesterday.

Ms Halliwell said: "It was covered in bricks and rocks and there was dog mess all over it. It was clearly done on purpose.

"Heartless disgusting vile people. There are no words to describe these evil people that could do this to a 12-year-old girl's grave."

The grave has now been cleared by the huge number of people who knew and loved Semina, MailOnline reports.

But a vile new screenshot passing round on social media shows someone offering money to 'trash' Semina's grave and film it.

The devastated mum previously told the Liverpool Echo that Semina had reported being raped and then dealt with a number of nasty bullies online after her traumatising ordeal.

Ms Halliwell also shared footage of what appeared to show Semina being physically attacked earlier this year – something she believes took place in the parks near their home a month after the alleged rape.

Merseyside Police have confirmed that investigations are underway into a report of rape in Southport on February 25.

A force spokesman said: "Extensive enquiries are ongoing into this allegation and other matters relating to the same alleged victim, and it would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage."

The tragic case was raised in Parliament when Labour MP Apsana Begum asked Education Secretary Gavin Williamson what more could be done to help from these horrific ordeals.

Ms Begum said: "I wanted to highlight the case of Semina who was 12 years old who disclosed that she'd been raped, and committed suicide."

Police officers confirmed they are investigating the awful desecration of Semina's grave.

Community Inspector Graham Fisher said: "The community will no doubt share our shock and revulsion that a grave could be desecrated like this.

"This is the final resting place of a beloved family member, and I can only imagine how upsetting it must have been for their loved ones to find that the grave had been treated in this way.

"While thankfully no permanent damage has been caused, it will have caused lasting distress to the family.

"I want to appeal to anyone who may have been visiting the cemetery in recent days and witnessed anything suspicious to contact us so that we can bring the perpetrators of this callous crime to justice."
