Brit bloke gorges on 250,000 calories in ‘Kebabathon’ with ‘messy’ results

A fast-food fanatic consumed 250,000 calories in a month by feasting on 124 kebabs.

Des Breakey, 36, scoffed four meat wraps each evening as part of his “Kebabathon”.

He admitted the challenge had got him both “psychologically and physically”.

But the dad-of-two said he had felt a huge sense of achievement when he wolfed down his final kebab on Saturday, raising £1,000 so far for charity.

Des said: “It’s very much an accomplishment. I appreciate the support. I have enjoyed it – but it’s hurt me physically. I’ve felt like crap. I’m not getting any fruit, no vegetables and no nutrition. I couldn’t eat anything else.

“It was a breeze for the first two weeks. But the last two weeks it got a bit messy, not just physically but psychologically as well.”

Des, of Manchester, was raising funds for Francis House Children’s Hospice in Didsbury– and even gave up his festive fare.

He added: “I had kebabs for Christmas. I went to my mum’s. I love prawn cocktails as a starter, so I was gutted.

“But I didn’t want to give in. I couldn’t let them down.”

Mr Breakey's dedication towards kebabs is an admirable feat as Britain's love for kebabs is seemingly finding its way into the housing sector.

The UK's first-ever kebab-themed staycation accommodation was launched in 2022 where kebab-lovers could stay in a donner-inspired area.

Launched by award-winning takeaway I am Doner, its brand manager Lynsey Benton said: We’re absolutely obsessed with kebabs and so are our customers, whether it’s using over 100 high-quality ingredients in our kebabs, or making our in-house sauces.

"That’s why we’re offering our loyal customers the opportunity to take their obsession to the next level by creating a new pilgrimage to kebabs in the UK!"
