The runway has gifted us many a playsuit over the years, but tightly-fitted ones feel like a very 2021 trend.
As lockdown fuelled the loungewear-takeover, our favourite brands listened and created lots of snug all-in-ones for chilling at home.
There are tons of dressy options out there now too, ideal for throwing on when you want to be comfy but still serve some glamour.
Whether you're looking to team yours with oversized tailoring or sweatshirts, we've decided to test out the best bodycon rompers online now.

Best sports-to-street style bodycon romper: SEBOWEL Women Sleeveless Spaghetti Strap Jumpsuit
- (AD) SEBOWEL Women Sleeveless Spaghetti Strap Jumpsuit, £16.99 from Amazon – buy here
For less than £17 on Amazon, we've found a staple bodycon romper that can be styled in so many different ways.
Cut from a spandex-blend, this romper comes in 11 colours but black is our favourite for versatility and how flattering it is.
Ok, so this is definitely a comfortable summer-time buy, ideal for throwing on to sit down all day in the park or go on sunny walks.
The fabric is soft and stretchy – we loved how flexible it felt to do yoga in.
In terms of styling for everyday looks, you're spoilt for choice because it looks so chic with any and every oversized shirt you own.
Plus, it's not too short which is a rarity for us tall women out there. A great quality bargain. You're welcome.
Best bodycon romper to wear by itself: Free People Night Call Romper
- Night Call Romper, £59.95 from Free People – buy here
Like everything by Free People, the Night Call Romper is elegantly on-trend and amazing quality.
It might be just short of £60, but it's cut from a really soft knit blend and comes with longer-than-average shorts and removable straps.
This is by far the most luxe bodycon romper of our list – it's so snug and the bust is lined across the top so that if you choose to go strapless, it won't fall down.
The sweetheart neckline adds such a pretty touch too and creates just the right frame for your necklaces.
In terms of sizing, we opted for a large as we're size 12-14 but it was too big so we'd definitely go more true to size in future!
We felt comfortably covered wearing this – it's a classy take on the bodycon romper that's for sure.
Best lounge bodycon romper: River Island Green Intimates Asymmetric Neckline Romper
- Green Intimates Asymmetric Neckline Romper, £12 from River Island – buy here
Who knew that comfies could be so cool? The Green Intimates Asymmetric Neckline Romper even has an off-the-shoulder cut.
Complete with RI elasticated bands on each sleeve and subtle branding on the front, this beautiful baby blue number is definitely made to be seen.
Whether you're winding down for movie night with your partner or having a girly sleepover, it's ultra-comfy loungewear that looks good too.
The minute we tried this on, we were obsessed with how flattering it is.
Made from soft ribbed stretch-cotton, it hugs you in at all the right places without clinging and fits true to size.
It's much better quality than we expected too and the pastel shade is trending this season – love, love, love.
Best bargain bodycon romper: Boohoo Crinkle Rib Strappy Unitard
- Crinkle Rib Strappy Unitard, £10.20 from Boohoo – buy here
If you're looking for a cheap bodycon romper then look no further than Boohoo: their Crinkle Rib Strappy Unitard is selling fast.
Available in black, blue or the above creamy Stone shade, this strappy all-in-one is made from stretch-fabric that emphasises your curves.
Even though the material feels quite basic, this definitely does the job as an easy layering piece for wearing underneath a blazer or sweatshirt.
From down-ward dog to dog walking, we found it comfy but kept to wearing it teamed with other things rather than on its own.
As someone with a pale complexion, we would probably opt for the black or blue next time as we felt a bit naked…
But for our women out there with darker skin tones, we reckon the Stone shade will complement you wonderfully.

What is a romper?
If you're from the U.K., you probably refer to a romper as an all-in-one or a playsuit.
Originally the word for a baby's one-piece, rompers are just mini dresses with shorts or a t-shirt-short built-in combo.
What's the difference between a romper and a jumpsuit?
A jumpsuit refers to trouser-length playsuits, whereas rompers are shorter – it's that simple.
We prefer opting for jumpsuits in the colder months and playsuits/rompers are reserved for sunnier days and parties.
Are rompers and playsuits the same thing?
As a short answer: yes.
Generally, in Britain, rompers refer to baby one-pieces. But in fact, rompers and playsuits actually carry the same definition of a short jumpsuit.
Where to buy bodycon rompers?
As they're looking like a mainstay trend for the time being, bodycon rompers can be found all over the high-street.
If you're looking for a staple layering style then you can head to PLT, Boohoo, Missguided or ASOS.
But for longer-lasting party-ready rompers, head to Selfridges, Urban Outfitters, Zara, H&M or Mango.
What to look for in bodycon rompers?
Bodycon rompers are made to flatter your figure – that's the whole reason that they're so popular.
Therefore, you need to find one that has you feeling like your best self: confident, comfortable and ready for whatever the day brings.
