Who plays serial killer Stephen Reid in Coronation Street?

Stephen Reid is set to unleash his wrath once again as the killer Coronation Street resident claims another victim.

He has already taken the lives of Leo Thompkins (Joe Frost) and his father Teddy Thompkins (Grant Burgin), and it looks like he is set to strike again as a body is found.

Rufus Donohue (Steven Meo), who is aware that Stephen has been drugging business partner Carla Barlow (Alison King), is mysteriously found dead in his swimming pool.

With previous spoilers stating that Stephen’s next victim will drown, we can safely assume that he was responsible for Rufus’ death

However, as Stephen’s actions continue to escalate, we ask ourselves what…or rather, who, is next?

Here, we take a look at who Stephen is, and who plays the malicious serial killer.

Who is Stephen Reid?

Stephen is the illegitimate son of Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls) who was adopted by the Reid family and moved with them to Canada where he became a successful businessman.

He entered the soap in 1996 as he made Mike Baldwin (Johnny Briggs) the sportswear manufacturer for his company Kbec.

During his visit to the street, he gets to know Audrey better, while also meeting half-sister Gail Platt (Helen Worth) for the first time.

He went on to give her children Nick Tilsley (Warren Jackson) and Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien) their start in the business world while he moved to Milan with his wife Gabrielle Reid (Helene Maksoud) in 2007, which saw him leave the soap.

Stephen returned in 2022 and his fortune changed after it comes to light he had been embezzling money from Gabrielle’s company to pay off his debts while also attempting to steal money from Audrey to recoup his losses.

He arrived back in Weatherfield to care for Audrey as her mental health declined, pretending to still be successful.

However, his charade is soon uncovered by Leo, with Stephen taking his life during a confrontation.

He claimed a second victim, Leo’s father Teddy, after he uncovered his dark side.

Who plays Stephen in Coronation Street?

Stephen is played by American actor Todd Boyce.

Todd, 61, first hit our screens in 1980 as he joined Australian soap opera The Restless Year.

The following year he attended the National Institute of Dramatic Art, and went on to star in the mini-series Fields of Fire upon his graduation.

He relocated to the UK in the 90s and debuted as Stephen in Coronation Street in 1996.

Corrie isn’t the only time he has entered the world of soaps, however, as he appeared as Herb in Hollyoaks in 2012.

He went on to appear as Bobby Jefferson in E4 comedy Beaver Falls, and in Netflix series The Crown as the U.S.A.F. General.

Boyce has also appeared in the likes of Mr Selfridge, I Can’t Get Started, The Delinquents, Blue Ice, and Spy Game.
