SEAL Team fans are gearing up for the next season, which will be moving home to Paramount Plus away from its traditional spot on CBS. Fans have worried Eric Blackburn (played by Judd Lormand) will not be making the move with them, as the character made only limited appearances in season four. However, he will indeed be back, but when will Blackburn return to the show?

When will Eric Blackburn return to SEAL Team?

Eric Blackburn cemented himself as one of the most important characters in the series throughout the first three seasons of the show.

But in season four, Blackburn was reduced to a much smaller role, only making a handful of appearances in the season.

This gave some fans concern that Blackburn was exiting the series, but it has now been confirmed the character will be returning to the show.

He is a Navy SEAL who served as the Commanding Officer of Bravo Team, throughout the first four seasons.

During the season four episode, titled All In, Blackburn was promoted to Commander and assigned as Executive Officer of DEVGRU.

The extent of Blackburn’s involvement in season five is unclear, as the character is only confirmed to be making an appearance in the first episode of the new season.

It isn’t known if Lormand will be re-joining the show as a series regular or if he will continue to make a handful of appearances.

CBS has not officially confirmed the return of Blackburn, likely wanting to keep his appearance a surprise for fans as he is a beloved character in the series.

The confirmation comes from TVLine, which reportedly has an inside scoop on the casting of season five.

“I can confirm that series vet Judd Lormand will put in an appearance as Blackburn in the Season 5 premiere (airing Sunday, Oct. 10),” according to the publication.

The confirmation of Lormand’s return aligns with the star’s schedule, as Lormand has not been announced to be joining another film or TV series.

According to the star’s IMDb, Lormand is also attached to the next season of the show, with no other projects on the horizon.

CBS has also not revealed the full cast for season five of SEAL Team, meaning there could still be other surprises in store for the team.

Since Lormand has only been confirmed for the season five premiere episode, it is likely the star will continue to play a background character in the series.

The episode All In also seemed like a definitive end for the character, with Jason Hayes (David Boreanaz) congratulation him and wishing him well with his promotion.

The last time fans saw Lormand in the role was in the season four finale, titled One Life to Live, meaning anything is possible with Blackburn’s future.

Fans will be thrilled with the news Blackburn is gearing up once more for season five.

Despite his higher rank, his inclusion in the season five premiere ensures he will still be willing to get his hands dirty for Bravo Team.

Fans have also been sharing their excitement for season five, with many of them taking to Twitter to discuss the upcoming season.

One fan wrote: “Cannot wait!!! #SEALteam Season 5!!!”

Another fan added: “Can’t wait for season five, Spencer’s my favourite character in this show so far other than Blackburn!”

SEAL Team season five will be available to watch on October 10 on Paramount Plus.
