The Family Fortunes presenter was due to make his debut on This Morning this coming week after producers announced a shake-up to the team. Throughout the school holidays, Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford have fronted the chat show while regular hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield enjoyed a summer break. For the last week of the summer holidays, Eamonn and Ruth were due to be replaced by Vernon and Rochelle Humes. However, Vernon has confirmed he’s had to pull out of his presenting duties due to testing positive for coronavirus.

Confirming the news to The Sun, Vernon explained: “I’m absolutely gutted that because of a positive Covid test I’m no longer able to present on This Morning next week with Rochelle nor do Radio 2 guest hosting and Steve Wright’s cover, two iconic shows which I’ve been a fan of for decades.”
