This Morning’s Phillip Scofield was forced to apologise to the show’s latest guest after co-host Holly Willoughby made an on-air blunder.

On Wednesday’s episode (January 25) Phil and Holly were celebrating all things Burns Nights and were joined by actor Sarah Parish.

However, prior to their interview Holly was left red-faced after she mispronounced the name of the Scottish food she would be eating later on.

During the show, Holly and Phil spoke to Gok Wan, who was at Glenapp Castle, to inform viewers at home about the show’s competition.

After watching Gok and the people in the castle raise a glass to celebrate, Holly told him that she would be toasting later on with their meal.

“I think we’ve got some whisky to have with our tovies,” she said.

Holly had meant to say stovies and, realising she had made the awkward blunder, she and Phil burst into a fit of laughter.

Struggling to compose themselves, Phil said: “Tovies, Holly has decided today not to use the letter S.”

Holly, looking rather red-faced, was swift to try and move on to introduce the next guest on the show.

But it appeared she couldn’t keep it together and was unable to continue her line.

With Phil still laughing, Holly told him: “Stop it! I can feel you laughing next to me, just stop it. Sorry.”

Phil said: “But now, try and be professional, Sarah Parish is going from screen to stage.”

Before cutting back to Holly and Phil, Sarah watched the duo try to contain their sniggers during their awkward on-air blunder.

Phil continued: “She joins the cast of a new West End play, Trouble in Butetown, she’s here now. I’m so sorry, that was a rubbish introduction.”

Sarah seemed to find the situation amusing and laughed along with Holly and Phil as they tried to keep it together.
