Jermaine Jenas and Samantha Quek took on hosting duties on last night’s episode of The One Show as regular presenter Alex Jones continues her maternity leave. However, this wasn’t the only change catching the attention of viewers as the BBC series’ new set caused a storm on Twitter.
The latest episode of The One Show has received backlash from fans following the series’ new set overhaul.
BBC One’s staple chat show has kept its iconic green sofas, albeit in a slightly different shade.
However, the surrounding set has been given a complete makeover which viewers haven’t quite warmed to.
Several members of the audience took to Twitter on Tuesday to complain about the series’ divisive new look.
One social media user said: “The new set up is awful, the colour palette is all wrong.
“I think you should’ve stuck to ‘If it’s not broken, don’t fix it’.”
The show’s new sofas were dubbed ‘garish’, while another viewer thought the overall ensemble was ‘grim’.
While one more viewer posted: “The @BBCTheOneShow studio looks like the set of a 90s Saturday morning children’s show.”
The show’s new set still features a pair of green sofas, though presenters are now set against a blue backdrop with numerous screens and orange panelling.
A round orange rug and two circular coffee tables complete the rather retro new look.
The new set replaces The One Show’s more modern previous design, which included lime green sofas, a striking blue interior and a transparent coffee table.
During Tuesday’s programme, hosts Jermaine Jenas and Samantha Quek questioned Hollywood star Billy Crystal whilst comedian Lee Mack was in-studio.

Plus, regular host Alex Jones popped in via video call with a quick update following her departure to go on maternity leave in August.
The TV presenter introduced her new baby daughter, which she teased had been given a ‘classic’ name.
Meanwhile, James Nesbitt’s strange eyebrows provoked some baffled responses from unsuspecting viewers.
Unfortunately, it seems Alex’s absence was overshadowed by this controversial change to the show’s lay-out.
“#TheOneShow that new set is awful. Looks like something from a 70’s waiting room,” another viewer tweeted.
A fanmade poll on the new set was even made on Twitter, with the response ‘It’s horrible’ receiving the overwhelming majority of votes.
Hopefully viewers can learn to accept the show’s drastic design change as it seems the new studio is here to stay.
The One Show airs weekdays at 7pm on BBC One.
