The Masked Singer: Blob ‘unveiled’ as Noel Edmonds days before ITV show returns

The Masked Singer: ITV tease the return of hit show

Blob is just one of 12 new characters taking part in season two of The Masked Singer UK, with the judges having to guess all of their secret identities. Earlier this year, a multitude of celebrities from all different fields of the showbiz world took part in the ITV programme, from politicians to soap stars and chart-toppers. The broadcasting giant has already released some teasers of what viewers can expect from the quirky competition show in the upcoming instalments and it seems some believe former Deal or No Deal host Noel, 71, could be the colourful monster-like contestant.

Ahead of the biggest game of Guess Who? returning to screens on Boxing Day, the official Twitter account for the show has released clips of all 12 characters taking part.

One of which is for Blob, who is seen shaking their hips as the programme’s theme tune is sung over the top.

Although the all-star inside the costume doesn’t speak, the idea some sort of celebrity is hiding their secret vocal abilities behind a mask has got fans theorising who they could be.

Looking back on Noel’s career in television, some social media users believe there is a coincidental connection between the monster-like contestant and the former game show presenter.

The former I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here! campmate used to star alongside Mr Blobby on his Saturday night variety show, Noel’s House Party.

With Blob making its debut on the quirky competition show during season two, some fans think Noel has donned the characterisation of his former co-star.

Taking to Twitter, one viewer wrote: “I think Blob will be Noel Edmonds,” followed by a video of the game show presenter hugging Mr Blobby.

A second declared: “Blob is Noel Edmonds,” again captioning a clip of the television stalwart being pushed out the way by the comedian.

Unfortunately, viewers will have to wait a few more weeks to hear Blob perform as they will feature in episode two of the new season.

Blob will star alongside Viking, Harlequin, Bushbaby, Grandfather Clock and Sea Horse in the first episode of the New Year.

Noel wasn’t revealed to be one of the characters taking part in season one so he could very well be taking part in the upcoming episodes.

The former game show presenter has never addressed whether he is going to be a contestant on the programme, either.

As the season progresses, fans will be given more clues as to whether the monster-like costume is hiding inside it the television stalwart.

Completing the line-up for season two are characters such as Alien, Robin, Badger, Swan, Dragon and Sausage.

These six contestants will all sing in the first episode of the new instalments with one of their identities being revealed at the end of the show.

Season one saw Queen Bee crowned the winner as former Girls Aloud star Nicola Roberts, 35, was exposed as the regal character.

Speaking about her participation on the show, the pop star said: “The Masked Singer was such a positive experience.”

“I just love to sing. I sang all my favourite songs and the mask brought some confidence,” the pop star continued.

“It was filmed in September so it was still relatively warm outside. When you’re nervous your body temperature goes up anyway.

“When I did the Sia song on the first week I did have a wobbler. I couldn’t breathe or get the notes out so I walked out,” she told This Morning.

Despite the worries about being in her costume, Nicola was overjoyed with her win, but who will take her crown in season two?

The Masked Singer returns Boxing Day at 7pm on ITV.
