'The Handmaid’s Tale' Cast Trade Gilead for the Red Carpet at Tonight's Emmys

The cast of Hulu’s The Handmaid’s Tale cast just hit the red carpet at the Emmy Awards, and SURPRISE! The ladies ditched their red cloaks (and the dystopian future of our collective nightmares) in exchange for some glam evening wear.

Alexis Bledel looked positively etherial in a pink and yellow pastel gown with embellishments on the bodice.

She paired it with a black clutch and matching heels, wearing her hair down in a sleek, straight style. Meanwhile, Madeline Brewer went in the opposite direction with a very goth, but chic outfit featuring a black lace dress with boning, peplum ruffles, and sheer sleeves.

She softened the look with some stunning white flowers in her red hair, and also added bling in the form of gorgeous dangly diamond earrings.

Also choosing a black gown was Yvonne Strahovski, who looked absolutely glowing with her baby bump in full view. She posed on the carpet with her husband Tim Loden, whom she married last year.

Oh, hey, Max Minghella!

The Handmaid’s Tale, which is in its second season and going on a third, is nominated for Outstanding Drama Series, and the actresses have accumulated quite the list of nominations including Elisabeth Moss for Outstanding Lead Actress, Yvonne Strahovski, Ann Dowd, and Alexis Bledel for Outstanding Supporting Actress, and Kelly Jenrette, Cherry Jones, and Samira Wiley, for Outstanding Guest Actress. The show also picked up noms for Outstanding Directing and Outstanding Writing.

Last year, The Handmaid’s Tale came away with five wins—Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Writing, and Elisabeth Moss, Samira Wiley, and Ann Dowd all picked up Emmys for their powerful performances in the show.

Now that it’s been renewed for a third season, it’ll likely premiere in April or May 2019.
