The Chase’s oldest ever contestant, 91, leaves fans heartbroken over blunder

The Chase welcomed its oldest ever contestant – but viewers were left heartbroken when she made an unfortunate blunder during her last question.

Jean, 91, entertained host Bradley Walsh with her quick with, yet was sadly not fast enough to answer her final question, sending her out of the competition.

During her time on the show, she managed to get £1,000 on the cashbuilder and delighted Bradley with her feisty remarks.

Asked what she would have spent the money on, Jean revealed that she wanted to take her three great-grandchildren to Disneyland.

She also joked that she would spend it on a bit of botox.

Endeared by Jean, Bradley asked her who the most famous person she had met was.

"[I had] lunch with Elizabeth Taylor’s husband," she told him. "It was her fifth husband, John Warner… terribly posh."

Despite being offered a lower offer of £91, Jean stuck with the middle offer of £1,000 but sadly was unable to beat The Vixen in The Chase.

"I’ve loved meeting you," Bradley told her warmly.

Meanwhile the Vixen said that her "own granny Jean" would be angry about her.

And viewers were heartbroken that Jean had crashed out of the competition

One tweeted: "Aww poor Jean. #TheChase."

While another commented: "#TheChase frankly that was extremely unlucky to lose like that but I still think the team can still beat @jenlion to start the week with a win on @ITVChase."

A third remarked: "Gutted Jean didn’t get through #TheChase."

One wrote: "Jean from #TheChase is giving me absolute life. If I ever get to 91 and a half I want to be like her."

The other three contestants on the show managed to win £16,000 in the Final Chase.
